Drawing Around Objects

Grade 4 - 6 April 13 - April 17

Description

Students will be introduced to illustrations and art of Christoph Niemann. Students will study the found object drawings by Christoph Niemann, and explain how he uses everyday objects to create interesting compositional stories of his drawings. Students will find three objects that can be incorporated into a mixed media drawing. Students will create a composition using pen/pencil and found objects, emphasizing the objects shape or color in the image.

Lesson Objectives

  • Students will gather three objects from inside or outside their home to be used in their drawing

  • Students will create a composition including the objects will use pen or pencil to draw the rest of the details and lines in their artwork, integrating the found objects into the 2D image

  • Students will develop more sophisticated problem solving skills, allowing them to handle more complex assignments and make their own artistic decisions.

  • This project will allow students to create work that combines 2D and 3D elements. During this time students develop a closer attention to details, making it a fun assignment for them to curate specific shaped objects to match their planned drawing.
